Installations 

Commercial racking installations are essential for organizing, storing, and accessing goods in warehouses, retail spaces, distribution centers, and industrial facilities. The type of racking you choose depends on the nature of your inventory, space constraints, accessibility needs, and load capacities.
Here are the main types of commercial racking installations:

Pallet Racking Systems

Designed for storing palletized goods and commonly used in warehouses and distribution centers.

Selective Pallet Racking

  • Most common type.

  • Allows access to every pallet.

  • Cost-effective and flexible.

  • Ideal for high SKU (Stock Keeping Unit) counts with low pallet quantities per SKU.

Drive-In / Drive-Through Racking

  • High-density storage.

  • Forklifts drive into the racking system.

  • Drive-in: One entry/exit point (LIFO).

  • Drive-through: Two access points (FIFO).

  • Ideal for large quantities of similar products.

Push-Back Racking

  • Pallets are loaded onto carts on inclined rails.

  • When a pallet is loaded, it pushes the existing ones back.

  • LIFO storage.

  • Good for moderate SKU variety and higher storage density.

Double-Deep Racking

  • Two rows of pallets stored back-to-back.

  • Requires a deep-reach forklift.

  • Higher density than selective racking but reduces immediate pallet access.

Cantilever Racking

  • Ideal for long, bulky, or irregular-shaped items like pipes, lumber, or furniture.

  • Open-front design with arms extending from columns.

  • Available in light, medium, or heavy-duty configurations.

Carton Flow Racking

  • Gravity-fed system for cartons or boxes.

  • Items are loaded from the back and picked from the front (FIFO).

  • Great for order picking and inventory rotation.

Mobile Racking (Mobile Shelving)

  • Racks are mounted on mobile bases that move on tracks.

  • Increases storage density by eliminating fixed aisles.

  • Suitable for cold storage or limited-space environments.

Mezzanine Racking Systems

  • Creates additional floorspace by building platforms above existing racking.

  • Increases vertical space usage.

  • Can include integrated shelving or work areas.
